Kepler Telescope

The Kepler spacecraft containing the Kepler telescope was launched on March 6, 2009. It currently monitors over 160,000 stars. Kepler’s primary science objective is to find errestrial planets located within the ‘habitable zones’ of Sun-like stars.

Kepler 22b was named after the orbiting telescope that found it.
